MEDiterranean PROspects

The objective of this work package is to establish a coherent analytical framework for the research to be undertaken in the areas of geopolitics and governance; demography and ageing; management of environment and natural resources, mitigation of and adaptation to global warming; economic development, trade and investment; human capital, social protection, inequality and imigration; and, regional integration and cooperation with the EU. The overall scientific coordination will be ensured by the Scientific Bureau consisting of a multidisciplinary team of senior researchers from all partner institutes involved in MEDPRO:

• Dr. Rym Ayadi, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) and overall Coordinator of the MEDPRO project
• Dr. Samir Abdullah, Director General of the Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute (MAS)
• Dr. Saloua Ben Zaghou, Director of Institut Tunisien de la Compétitivité et des Etudes Quantitatives (ITCEQ)
• Dr. Frédéric Blanc, Secretary General of Forum Euro-Méditerranéen des Instituts Economiques (FEMISE)
• Prof. Pantelis Capros, Institute of Communication and Computer Systems/National Technical Univesity of Athens (ICCS/NTUA)
• Prof. Marek Dabrowski, President of the Centre for Economic and Social Research (CASE)
• Prof. Alia El Mahdi, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, Cairo University (FEPS)
• H.E Ambassador Senén Florensa i Palau, Director General of Institut Europeu de la Mediterrània (IEMed)
• Dr. Manfred Hafner, Coordinator of Energy Security of Supply activities at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM)
• Jawad Kerdoudi, President of Institut Marocain des Relations Internationales (IMRI)
• Jorgen Mortensen, Associate Senior Research Fellow at CEPS
• Prof. Jean Louis Reiffers, President of the Scientific Council of FEMISE.

The Scientific Bureau will benefit from the wide expertise of Prof. Kemal Dervis, Former Head of the United Nations Development Program and current Vice President and Director of Global Economy and Development at Brookings Institution. In addition to the Scientific Bureau, the Scenario Building Committee will be set for the needs of the foresight exercise. Its task will be to coordinate the inputs of each work package in a first stage in order to deliver prospective scenarios that will serve as a basis for the elaboration of the policy options in the final stage of the research. Similarly to the Scientific Bureau, it is composed by a team of senior researchers from the partner institutes:
