Human Capital, Inequality and Migration in Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Countries: Towards a coherent policy agenda

In addition, the population projections of the MEDPRO project until 2030 have pointed to an increase in working-age populations. Against this background, the authors suggest policies to address challenges in education, inequality, social protection and migration.

Inequality in the Southern Mediterranean: A survey of selected countries

Location, educational attainment and employment status have been identified as the key factors affecting levels of welfare and its distribution. A benefit incidence analysis was performed to investigate benefits of different deciles of per capita expenditure from education and health services.

أربعاء, 17/11/2010 - 18:33 | by adminتعاني خطط الحماية الاجتماعية في الإقليم من حالة ضعف شديد، تتضمن التغيرات السكانية والبطالة المستشرية، وخاصة فيما بين الشباب. وهذه التحديات تعوق بشدة استدامة هذه الخطط، أينما وجدت. علاوة على ذلك، لاتزال دول الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا متأخرة عن قريناتها فيما يتعلق بالتحصيل التعليمي بين السكان البالغين. ويعد إدماج النساء في القوة العاملة منخفظاً بدرجة هائلة في معظم بلدان الإقليم، رغم الاستثمار العام الهائل في التعليم والزيادة المصاحبة له في معدلات الالتحاق بالتعليم وفي تعلم القراءة والكتابة.
