MEDiterranean PROspects

The MEDPRO Marseille Meeting aims at finalizing the MEDPRO qualitative and quantitative scenarios; elaborating on the policy implications for the South MED Countries and the EU and producing policy recommendations.

During the next MEDPRO Scientific Workshop in Brussels the researchers will discuss their work progress in particular the reference and alternative scenarios in view of the recent upheavals in the south Mediterranean region.

On February 10th and 11th 2011, Istituto di Studi per l'Integrazione dei Sistemi (ISIS) hosted the MEDPRO Scenario Building Committee (SBC) meeting. Researchers presented the reference scenarios and discussed the impacts of the events in Tunisia and Egypt .

On November 2nd and 3rd, 2010, Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) hosted the MEDPRO scientific workshop. Researchers presented their work in progress and started the discussion on scenarios.

On June 29th and 30th, the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences of the Cairo University (FEPS) hosted MEDPRO’s first implementation workshop on demography, human capital inequalities and migration. Speakers gave a glimpse on the demographic situation and state of education in selected Maghreb and Mashrek countries highlighting their commonalities and divergences. On this basis, partners discussed their updated work plans pointing at the complementarities between these two streams of MEDPRO’s research. The discussion clarified the methodology to undertake the foresight exercise and defined the next steps to move forward.
